The 802.11 link between my home office upstairs and master bedroom is so bad (8dB-ish, in the “Marginal” range) that I’m really looking forward to the next house which shouldn’t have this problem… too bad it’ll basically be Thanksgiving before I get to enjoy it 🙂

Oh, on the good news/bad news front – looks like my builder finally caved on both fronts – for the driveway, we’ll have to (potentially, depending on the thoughts of the concrete guy subcontractor “Thomas”) write up a waiver so the standing water won’t be deemed a warranty violation for the part of the driveway I’m insisting as flat 🙂

Oh, and for the conduit, the builder finally said “go ahead and put it in yourself”. This is great from the prospect of putting in as many as I want where I want, but now I need to definitely spend more time getting my hands dirty, finding the parts I wanna go with, trying to find best prices, etc., etc., etc.. I don’t mind so much since the end result will be a near-infinitely routable house 🙂

Now, back to my echinacea/dayquil/fluids regimen, stat!

odd – the mutt segfault width thingy is at 261 width – i guess there’s something about 6 or 7 bytes of whatever going on.

At 261 width, it’s fine – at 262, segfault

weird.

[Fwd: How To Wash A Cat (Morning Humor)]

heh – kept widening my Konsole window and mutt actually segfaulted. I knew it had that bug and hadn’t done it in so long I had forgotten about it.

But, to make this post meaningful, here’s the email (from Ken, fwiw, but ya know how spam forwards are) that made me laugh enough to post

***
1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.
2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water and have both lids up.
3. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. (You may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape.) The cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from your toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this. CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for anything they can find.
5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a “power wash” and “rinse,” which I have found to be quite effective.
6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.
7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.

Sincerely,
The Dog

I guess I should bugzilla this mutt bug finally 🙂

today was pretty productive on the moving front. Between stuff like the outdoor grill, the weight set, all the deck and screened-porch stuff, and the rest of the attic stuff we got a good dent made in our moving efforts. It’s just sad how much is still left.

Basically only 1 week left for the final contract modifications – gonna have to get those nailed down ASAP. Ugh. I hate having slow people on critical paths 🙂

man, haven’t had a chance to post much – well, it’s past midnight so technically today (saturday) is the first of many “big move” days. Today’s guest stars will be my parents, especially my dad who is finally going to teach me all those useful rope knots for securing large loads. As it stands, I’m afraid to pack the bed of the pickup over the upper line since at that point the rope tying gets much more critical, so this will be nice since I should be able to move about twice as much per trip after this. Course, hopefully with the van that Jess is bringing up from Fayetteville and the pickup we already have, we should be able to make a big dent in the stuff we gotta get moved anyway 🙂

*yawn* time for bed. I’m such a geezer these days 🙂

swapped the tempo for my dad’s pickup over the weekend so I’m back in the land of the manual transmission. Definitely like riding a bike, but the clutch “engages” at a little different point than the last time – still getting used to that part of it 🙂

On the bright side, this means I have just over a month (today, 4/22 to 5/23) to get everything in the house “Out Da Doh”! trips aplenty upcoming 🙂

mad props to my mother-in-law that pointed out the upcoming cirque du soleil shows (like 6 of them, including the Quidam we went to!) – the tivo now has them at #1 on the season pass manager, best quality, keep until delete – w00t!

ya know, I wonder if there’d ever be a point where I’d lj user= for my parents or in-laws – I think that’d be a very weird day 🙂 hehe
